Title I'M IN THE CENTER OF THE TOWN DUMP
Object Name Drawing
Artist Russell, Charles M. (1864-1926)
Dimensions H-8 W-13 inches
Medium Pen and Ink/Paper
Date 1925
Notes Russell's skill as a storyteller-in both word and picture-reached its apogee with the publication of his illustrated "Rawhide Rawlins" stories, which began appearing in Montana newspapers in 1916. These publications would provide lasting insight into Russell's very western sense of humor. This drawing of man with a cowboy hat sitting in the middle of a dump surrounded by boxes, stove, trunk, bureau and tin cans, is from those illustrated stories.
