Vignette No. XIII from Prince Maximilian's "Travels in the Interior of North America, 1832-1834."
A lithograph of Bodmer's which was in actuality a copy of Mato-Tope (Four Bears) original drawing. Depicting two American Indian in hand to hand combat. One man is holding a knife and one man is holding a tomahawk. The man holding the knife has cut the other man on the hand and the drawing shows blood flowing. Man holding the knife has a powder horn hanging from his shoulder. The other man has a large eagle feather headdress.
