Notes 'The Cowboy on a Bucking Bronco', modeled in 1905, is another small piece by Russell that the artist likely never intended to cast into bronze. This is a favorite subject of the artist-a cowboy on a wildly bucking bronc. The cowboy holds tightly to his hat in his right hand as he grasps the rope with his left. In the bronze, wire is used for vegetation around the horse's feet. Russell had used hemp for vegetation in the original model.
