Notes Mahogany Medicine Kit, formerly the property of John J. Healy. Healy was a noted pioneer and Indian trader at Sun River Crossing where he also built a stone flour mill. The crossing is five miles from where Fort Shaw was located. This medicine kit he had at the crossing in 1871.
He later built Fort Whoop-up and the same Medicine Kit was used at this place.
In 1880-1884 he was Choutear Counties Sheriff and in his late years Capt John J Healy organizied the North West Trading and Transportation Co in Alaska. From the Collection of George Standford C J Van Duged John J Healy was a noted man in Montana history.
