Notes The second sketch of a pair depicts Charlie and his wife Nancy at home during dinner. When Charlie and Nancy got married in September 1896, his friends at the Silver Dollar Saloon in Great Falls chipped in to buy the couple the silver tea set depicted in this sketch. While the sketches were produced primarily to serve as a thank-you letter for the gift, they also relayed an important message about the many ways in which Russell's life had changed, mostly for the better. Because Nancy refused to befriend Russell's rowdier friends, however, the givers of the tea set would never be invited into her home to use it.
