Notes Large painting alternating vertical black stripes with vertical colored stripes ranging from deep blue to shades of green, red, and grey. The stripes are thin and long. This is a good example of stripe and color field painting. This is also an example of the "push-pull" theory developed by Haus Hoffman in 1943 where in chosen colors move receding areas to the surface while moving protruding areas back.
