Notes An illustration of a gambler standing in front of a saloon tipping his hat to a lady in a green dress and a pink hat walking in front of the gambler on the boardwalk. The ground of the painting is predominantly light blue in color. Positioned in the center of the painting is the gambler and lady. The gambler is standing in front of a doorway, which has swinging shutter doors. The gambler is depicted wearing a top hat, which he is tipping off his head with his right hand. He is wearing a tie, white shirt, red vest, dress coat, dress pants and dress shoes. The woman next to him is wearing a green dress with a bustle. The woman is depicted with red hair that is pulled back in a bun and she is wearing a hat with a large pink feather inserted in the top of the hat. Her dress has a high crimped collar, long sleeves with ruffles at the end of the sleeves, there are ruffles at the very top of the bustle, which run around the circumference of the dress and the bottom edge of the skirt is also lined with the same trim as the rest of the dress. The artist has signed bottom proper right corner of the painting, "Irvin Shope / '66" with black paint.
