Notes One of Russell's favorite horses was a bay horse with a black mane named Neenah, which he purchased from his Cree friend, Young Boy, after losing his beloved pinto pony, Monte, in 1901. Here, Russell shows himself riding Neenah, lighting a "bull," or Bull Durham cigarette.
