Notes Large oil painting of Thille de Fontenay, father of Barbara C. Landon. The oil painting is framed inside a large wooden frame. There is a thin red-orange line around the outer edge of the frame and a thin blue line around the inside edge of the frame. The background of the frame is gray. There are definite large brush strokes have been used in the background. In the foreground of the painting is a large portrait of Thille. Thille is depicted wearing a large cowboy hat. The hat has a wide hat band with blue diamonds through the center. He is wearing a red shirt with two breast pockets, one on each side. Around his neck is a blue kerchief. There is a gold clip attached just below the neck on the kerchief, which is in the shape of a star. He is wearing leather wrist cuffs at the end of his shirt sleeves. A series of metal brads are depicted as decoration on the cuffs. In his hands he is holding a pair of leather gloves. His pants are covered with leather chaps with fringe down each side. Depicted directly behind his right shoulder is a leather saddle and lariat. Attached to the bottom of the frame is a silver colored plaque with the inscription "'TillieThe Cowboy 1892-1951."
