The roundels in the rotunda represent archetypes of four frontier figures who played leading roles in Montana's early history. Henry Edgar-who served as the model for "The Prospector"-was one of six men who discovered gold in Alder Gulch in 1863.
Roundel portraying a man standing on a pile of rocks. He holds a miner's pick in his proper right hand and a gold pan in his left. There are mountains in the distant background.
