Notes The Justice/State Library Building was completed in 1982. Charged with the task of selecting art to complement the new building's contemporary architecture, the committee limited their search to living Montana artists, but intentionally sought out works of varied media. The chosen artists were among the most highly regarded artists working in the Treasure State during the mid-1980s. Bill Stockton was a sheep rancher and writer as well as an artist. He grew up near Winnett, Montana, and studied art in Minneapolis and Paris.
