Notes This "tote bag" belonged to a Chinese railroad worker. It is a purse of heavy cotton. Front covered with purple silk, edged with recording. Embroidered pattern with lotus in center is on main part of the purse and on the top flap which closes with a cotton cord loop and a metal round button with six green glass beads in a circular design. The purse has three pockets - front is covered with the silk and is 3.50" high, middle is covered when the flap is buttoned. The back one is always open at the top. A dark brown knotted cord loop is sewn to the back.
