Object Name Drawing
Artist Russell, Charles M. (1864-1926)
Dimensions H-7.5 W-9.5 inches
Medium Ink Wash/Paper

Notes This first scene of a pair depicts Charlie eating alone in a messy room. When Charlie and Nancy got married in September 1896, his friends at the Silver Dollar Saloon in Great Falls chipped in to buy the couple the silver tea set depicted in use in the second drawing (1986.06.05). While the sketches were produced primarily to serve as a thank-you letter for the gift, they also relayed an important message about the many ways in which Russell's life had changed, mostly for the better.
