Notes Climbing Bighorn was modeled out of wax in 1924 and was a gift from Russell to his friend Ed Nietzling, who accompanied him as a guide on a number of hunting trips in the Flathead area near Glacier Park. Russell loved to go out on the trips in the wild with his friends, but eventually became physically unable to venture out. Even when Russell's rheumatism kept him from going on the trips, Nietzling remembered his preference for wild meat and would send him venison on occasion.
