|Artist||Russell, Charles M. (1864-1926)|
|Dimensions||H-7 W-3.5 inches|
Russell cast and painted several multiples of 'Piegan Squaw' to present as gifts to friends. In this version he painted the bust surface with a monochromatic glossy dark paint. The woman's striking portrait is evocative of Russell's portrayal of Indian women in many of his paintings. She wears her hair in braids, is adorned with shell earrings, and is clothed in a robe with a central beaded rosette.
