Notes In memory of Fort Peck Sioux leader Gerald Red Elk in honor of NAES College, the Fort Peck Study Site, the Assiniboine and Sioux peoples of the Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board.

Machine pieced 8 point star made of 9 rows of diamonds (3" on side) in pastel pink, bright pink, purple, and three shades of blue. Star spreads over 58" of quilt, with notches of star, and all around border of pale yellow thin cotton and polyester blend. Lining of same materials, with edges turned onto top and machine sewed in zig zag stitch to bind edges. Hand quilted in half circles from sides toward center with section in center remaining unquilted. Half circles staggered, to produce shell pattern. Synthetic batting. 8/16/1988 muslin sleeve added across top edge.
