Notes This quilt was made for and entered in the MHS/Helena Quilter's Guild Centennial Quilt Show. This piece won the "curator's choice" award - ie the owner sold the quilt to the permanent collection for $500.

35 block quilt of alternating plain and design blocks. Plain unbleached muslin blocks are quilted in designs of Montana nature: mountains, big game, beaver, trout, meadowlark, snowflake, prickly pear, & bitterroot. Design blocks appliqued, pieced & embroidered of man-made things of Montana: Indian tools, tipi, cave painting, Lewis & Clark, riverboad, covered wagon, cabin, railroad emblems, brands, cattle, oil well, gallows frame, strip farming, CMR logo. Dated blocks of Hist. Society and statehood. 5 1/2" wide border of state colors of blue & gold, Muslin lining.
